Our People

here is a selection of our team profiles

Chloe Rosenfield, Trainee Editor, London

I joined Metro as the youngest member of staff in January 2017 at the age of 19, fresh from Sixth Form back at home near Milton Keynes.

I found my interest in events/media through family working in the industry, even being Freelance for Metro, this inspired me to take Media Studies as one of my Sixth Form subjects. My journey with Metro started whilst still studying at Sixth Form, between studying and during half terms I was welcomed by Metro to help as a runner on some of the larger events onsite.

After finishing my studies, I decided that University wasn’t for me and jumping straight into the working life was where I would go next. This is when my journey at Metro truly started.

I started off at Metro as a member of the Administration team in Jan 2017. This involved working closely with the Project Managers at busy times when they need that extra support with the pre-production. I was also lucky enough to assist on site again on a number of occasions, even jetting off to Paris for a day or two.

After a year of working at Metro, I have now moved onto working in the creative department, focussing on editing footage that comes back from events and taking care of every piece of footage. Editing is something I really enjoy, and the days go by so quickly when I’m doing an edit, so good it doesn’t really feel like work!

I’ve been welcomed into Metro so nicely and feel like I’ve always been here. The people at Metro are a huge part of what makes Metro so enjoyable. The team have helped me learn more every day and I have my dream job at the age of 20 thanks to Metro.

Karo Tomaszewska, Project Administration Coordinator, London

I joined the London-based Metro team in May 2016 and I do office and on site event support.

When it gets busy, I’m the person project managers will turn to for help and assistance with their pre-production.

I’m responsible for managing our network of freelance staff and staying in touch with, wherever they are in the world.

I love how everyone is different here in Metro and, at the same time, we always work as a team towards common goals. I like my independence and appreciate that it is up to me how I manage my time and workload.

I’m mostly based in the office but truly enjoy going on site, especially when I get to go abroad to assist with international events.

Amy Coward, Project Manager - Client Site, London

“I studied for an Event Management Degree at London Metropolitan University. After graduating I joined Metro Broadcast in 2010 and worked in Business Development before moving onto Project Management support. I am now Project Manager which means I represent Metro Broadcast at the Venue on a permanent basis.

During events it becomes incredibly busy with three or four event spaces running at any one time. I enjoy the buzz and excitement of this; running between each event making sure our technicians have the information they need during set-up and that the event runs smoothly. On non-event days I work on pre-production, site visits, quoting and set design, in addition to administration, booking kit and arranging transport.

I recently project managed my first Fashion Show. The set looked sleek and stylish with an immaculate finish, the lighting was perfect and everyone had a great time dancing to immense sound system installed by our Technician Mario. I was so proud of the end result and we made it a cost effective and viable option for the client.

The best thing about Metro Broadcast is the people! When you have a great team on-site to support you, immediately you know your day is going to be that much easier.”

Grant Mitchell, Project Manager, London

“After leaving school at 16 I went straight to work for Metro Broadcast. I worked in the Warehouse and Checkout, learning how to prepare kit; this was an essential part of my training as you get to learn about all the kit and how it works as a system. I then became a Trainee Technician - this is all about gaining knowledge and experience whilst out on the road - you start off on small jobs until you become more experienced to work on larger shows. Firstly I focused on sound and video, now I'm more of a senior Technician I like to focus more on the high-end video side of things"

We work on some interesting events anything from fashion shows to gala dinners and award ceremonies for various different celebrities and VIPs; each day is unique and different. A typical day on site consists of setting up the technical side of things liaising with the client preparing content and running through rehearsals to then operating the show de rigging and moving on to the next venue

Metro Broadcast is a great place to work, there is a huge amount to learn, as well as gaining experience and knowledge, you can really move forward in your career.”

Nigel Kippax, Project Manager, Edinburgh

“I worked with Metro Ecosse as a freelancer for several years. I decided to join the team full time last September. My role as Project Manager involves dealing with the client brief. From first contact, to the design process, through to quoting and delivering the event; my aim is to meet and exceed client expectations.

My days are never the same, but they do start with a coffee and a bowl of porridge!  I enjoy the variety my role gives me, from meeting with clients, writing quotes, preparing kit specifications, to attending site surveys or preparing presentations and VTs.

My first event with Metro Ecosse was a particularly large event which had a very short run up period; when it all came together I was very proud. The most interesting and challenging job I have done so far at Metro was on a cruise ship!

I would recommend someone to come and work at Metro Ecosse. The atmosphere in the office is very open and really good natured; a great place to work, with great people.”

Paul Enright, Technical Manager, London

“This year will be my 30th year working in the Events industry. My current role at Metro Broadcast is Technical Manager; this role varies from managing the delivery of equipment, researching new kit and considering future purchases for the company. Metro is proactive about investing in kit and ensuring we have the most up-to-date equipment. I recently visited an Events exhibition in Amsterdam to observe the latest Events technology.

Our clients trust us to deliver exceptional service year-on-year, it is our responsibility to maintain this, but also to make sure we keep things fresh. I am currently part of an interesting project which will mean working with the set designers to install and build our equipment into the exhibition stands.

Working in the Events industry means a lot of travel, I have toured the world several times over during my career, working on Events in the USA, Africa, Europe and the Middle East, even meeting Bill Clinton and Tony Blair along the way!

There is a huge amount of variety in my job, which is something I enjoy. We work hard but the atmosphere is friendly and fun.”

Stuart Gracie, Technical Project Manager, Edinburgh

“I joined Metro Ecosse in 2012 having previously worked as an AV Technician. Being a Technical Project Manager means my job involves liaising with clients, organising kit and maintaining equipment. I work on Events from a technical perspective and my area of expertise is sound. Being at Metro Ecosse gives me the opportunity to be innovative and we have recently upgraded our digital sound deck.
Being in this job involves a great deal of travel, in the few years I have worked on Events in Spain, Italy, UAE and India. One of our recent jobs was a UK Road Show - 13 events over 1 month – we managed to clock up over 5,000 miles in the van! This does make it a demanding role, but one which is thoroughly enjoyable and exciting especially when you know you have a good team around to support you.
I would recommend Metro Ecosse as a place to work, especially if you are keen to learn and develop your career in Events. I have learnt so much at Metro Ecosse because the team here are very experienced and knowledgeable.”
