On the inherently transient nature of the universe... (We've moved offices!)

"Just because everything is different doesn't mean anything has changed."

Irene Peter

All good things must come to an end and over the Bank Holiday weekend Metro moved from Great Suffolk Street in SE1 where we've been based for almost 30 years.

This marks an exciting new chapter for all of us as we move on to bigger premises right next to the Oval cricket ground in Kennington. As a location this is perfect for Metro, we now have a much larger warehouse, larger office premises and remain central with quick access to the city & west-end, which has always been important for us as a business.

The story of Metro on Gt Suffolk Street started in 1985 when we moved into The Old Bacon Factory at no. 57. This was to be the home for Metro until the mid-nineties at which point we moved 4 doors up the road to 53. When we first agreed the lease, the place had a bit of a Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels feel to it:

Over the subsequent 17 years we continued growing. We invested heavily in our equipment and staff to ensure that we were in a position to provide state of the art kit and highly skilled technicians into the events industry, in London, throughout the UK and across the globe.

So it was with a fond farewell that we packed up our bags over the weekend and said goodbye to the old office & warehouse.

Gradually we got everything boxed up

Although there was at least one member of staff still keeping the wheels of industry turning to the bitter end - get off the blower Liz!

And shifted over to the new premises. Huge thanks to all the staff who put in long, tiring hours over their Bank Holiday Weekend to make this achievable!

We're all looking forward to getting our bearings here at the new office but I know we'll miss the guys over at Cafe Relaxo, and Ben and I particularly will miss the noodles from Bangkok kitchen... We'll also miss Mark and all the guys over at The Union Jack pub, which has seen a great many legendary Metro nights!

Come Tuesday morning, staff were all greeted back after the Bank Holiday with a "welcome to the new premises" pack consisting of personalised Metro mugs, chocolates and delicious Metro cupcakes from Mrs Sweets Treats (http://mrssweetstreats.weebly.com) a perfect antidote to beat the post Bank Holiday Blues (good thing there's a gym on site at the new office). Thanks Metro!

So we're in now and it's back to Business As Usual, we're cracking on with a great number of exciting events coming up and gearing up for road show season, our busiest time of year!

Our new home is 6 Camberwell New Road, right next to The Oval Cricket Ground. We look forward to continuing to do business with you, and welcome you to drop by if you are in the area.

Here's to many more years and successes at our new address!

All the best,

Terence
