Metro Ecosse’s Grant Packwood Joins Celtic Manor’s Focus Group For New International Convention Centre in Wales.
In July 2014, Celtic Manor Resort & Spa received outline planning permission to build a new International Convention Centre in Wales. Scheduled for completion in 2018, the new convention centre at Celtic Manor will be the largest of its kind in Wales and
South West England. Looking for a group of industry experts to support the ongoing development of the event space, Celtic Manor invited Metro Ecosse to contribute at a focus group made up of a range of experts from across the industry.
Metro Ecosse is represented in the group by Project Manager Grant Packwood who has worked on no less than nine events at the Newport conference centre over the last few years ranging from conferences and award ceremonies to themed parties. Grant began his career as an AV installation technician and now has over 20 years event experience to bring to the table.
The new International Convention Centre in Wales intends to attract prestigious international events from across the world. The state-of-the-art auditorium, exhibition hall and associated facilities will have capacity for around 4,000 delegates.
With a total capacity in excess of 20,000 square metres, the main auditorium will hold 1,500 delegates with the flexibility to divide into smaller spaces. A separate main exhibition hall will stretch to 4,000 square metres and be able to accommodate up to 2,000 guests for a gala dinner.
A further 15 meeting rooms will cater for all sizes and types of meetings and events, and complement the existing convention centre facilities at Celtic Manor, which have already made it the Best UK Hotel at the Meetings and Incentive Travel Awards for the past four years running.
