Nigel Letheren Plays The Last Post.

Nigel Letheren Plays The Last Post.

Our very own flugelhorn player Nigel Letheren used a staff Charity Day to travel to Devon to pay tribute to those who gave their lives at war on Remembrance Sunday.  The service was conducted by St. Mary’s Church, Black Torrington and Hope Chapel and began at the village war memorial.  Nigel sounded the Last Post to begin the two minute silence and then played the Reveille, marking the end.

Our staff at Metro are entitled to use one day a year in which they donate their time to charity or community activities.  An accomplished brass player who began playing at the age of 12, Nigel’s performance on Remembrance Sunday is an annual event at his local village where he still returns to play with his local brass band when his schedule allows.

St Mary’s Church, Black Torrington is currently undergoing extensive restoration which has been supported by community fundraising and grants totalling around £40,000.  The Revd. Kathy Roberts is also Dean of Women’s Ministry at Exeter Cathedral.
