Guests Step Into Wonderland to Raise £280,000 at The Savoy for Macmillan’s Flagship Event
On Wednesday 25th November, our project manager Joe Beecham and his crew installed lighting, staging, sound and visuals in the Savoy’s Ballroom where enchanted guests attended Macmillan’s flagship fundraiser, The Annual Ball 2015 – Curiouser And Curiouser. The ‘Alice In Wonderland’ themed event has raised a chart-topping £280,000 with funds still trickling in - some £50,000 more than last year’s total.
Louise Minchin, presenter of Breakfast On BBC One, was compere for the evening’s entertainment which included music from electric violin stars Fuse, Britain’s Got Talent finalists Jack Pack and the London Function Band.
Metro worked closely with both the Macmillan events team and Event Prop Hire to create a beguiling wonderland in one of London’s most classical settings; based on Macmillan’s designs for the invitation, Metro created the set back drop which was themed with a sketch of the white rabbit, the screen ‘bumper’ slide which featured the iconic stopwatch, and lighting which used gobos and other effects to create a vivid, kaleidoscopic fantasy land.
Event Prop Hire replaced traditional floral table centres with a selection of themed props including pink flamingos and tea cup sculptures.
Auctioneer Edward Rising held the exciting grand auction which included lots from David Walliams and Lewis Hamilton while a silent auction was facilitated by Givergy.
