Supporting Linklaters’ Graduate Recruitment Campaign: Live Your Ambition.

During October each year, global law firm Linklaters takes its graduate recruitment campaign to the road across the UK and Ireland in order to attract the region’s brightest legal minds.  The road show for the 2015 campaign Live Your Ambition comprised 15 employer presentations over two months in a range of venues including regional hotels, an art gallery and Linklaters’ own London-based auditorium.  

The Brief

It is Metro Broadcast’s job to convey the firm’s clear set of values in the look and feel of each event as well as ensuring the road show’s rigorous schedule doesn’t compromise the quality of the production which includes staging, lighting, presentation and sound.

The graduate recruitment “rounds” are competitive and the most talented graduates are highly ambitious.  Claudine Vega, Graduate Marketing Advisor at Linklaters says, “It should be evident from the quality of each event that Linklaters is the firm most able to support graduates in realising their personal goals.  Metro’s brief is to produce a road show of events which is professional and well-organised to reflect our ambition to be the leading global law firm.”

Challenges

In charge of responding to the brief, liaising with Linklaters’ graphic designers and co-ordinating the production, Metro’s Cathy Wickens says, “The main challenge is to create a production which is built for life on the road.  We look carefully at the design as well as the materials; the staging has to ‘fit’ every venue and it has to be made from materials which will cope with the stress of being transported and continually reinstalled.”
 
Ease of construction, scalability and portability are particular concerns.  Venues which are new to the annual road show are checked for suitability by Metro’s production managers prior to venue contracts being signed.  

Recognising the value in working with a supplier experienced in road show-type events, Claudine Vega says, “With Metro managing the technical production, the equipment, crew and transportation, our team at Linklaters is able to focus on content, communications and engagement.”  

Engagement Tactics

To optimise audience participation, the team uses a bespoke app which graduates can access during the events via iPads supplied by Metro.  The app incorporates not only the conference brochure and presentations, it also gives graduates the opportunity to submit written questions to the panel.  

Claudine Vega says, “The app appeals to those graduates who might want time to edit their questions rather than having to address the whole room, on the spot.  Combining use of the app with live questions from the floor helps to create a more dynamic and vibrant Q&A session.”

The app also stores and analyses useful information including feedback on the venue and content, allowing Linklaters to continually improve future events.
