QVC Treats Loyal Customers To A Very Special Event At Vinopolis.

On August 30th 2013, celebrating its 20th Anniversary, the UK’s favourite shopping channel QVC treated over 600 of its loyal customers to a live fashion show at London’s unique venue Vinopolis.  Resident technical production company at Vinopolis Metro Broadcast created the setting in the venue’s Great Halls, transforming the elegant, vaulted space into a vibrant runway area with dramatic lighting, purpose-built staging, contemporary furnishings and bold, branded visuals for QVC’s delighted guests.

Metro Broadcast’s production team created a purpose built set with centralised, branded flats which allowed the models to enter and exit the adjoining runway.  The set also provided a backdrop and stage for presenters.  The catwalk itself ran almost the entire length of the Great Halls and was lined with Ghost chairs to create a contemporary look.  The arched galleries, vaults and porticos, which lend easily to lighting effects, were colour-washed with lighting in tune with QVC’s identity guidelines, then further enhanced with gobos which branded the walls with giant QVC logos.

Dave Ashman, Metro Broadcast’s resident production manager at the venue said, “Vinopolis is the perfect venue for a fashion show in terms of layout and atmosphere.    The Great Halls have a natural, arched divide which allows you to create a slightly separate space for refreshments without taking guests away from the action centre stage.  The bold, Victorian design of the building allows you to experiment with different lighting effects, completely changing the character of the space for each different event.”

QVC’s three day fashion event opened with an evening press launch on Day 1 before welcoming 300 thrilled customers on Day 2 and a further 300 on Day 3.  The events were hosted by the channel’s very own presenters and the fashion show itself included models of all shapes and sizes - a mixture of professionals and QVC customers - wearing the Autumn/Winter collections of the channel’s most popular brands including; Trinny & Susannah, Clarks Footwear, Yong Kim, Kipling, Diane Gilman, Nina Leonard, Centigrade, and Lola Rose jewellery.  Each event lasted four hours and included not only the fashion show itself but shop window-type areas displaying accessories.  Refreshments of canapés and Prosecco were served.
